Stand Up and Do Something
"Get clear on who you are and what you want to contribute, and let that be your driving force for each decision you make moving forward." - Tami Green
Is something bothering you?
Of course, there is.
Humans do not like to remain static. Every day, small and large annoyances pop up that irritate us. These things are laid before us to fuel us--to push us--to create solutions and make the world a better place.
Last year, it felt that change was working against us--annoyances just kept adding up with little relief in sight.
But here's what I've been preaching for a while now--and you will want to hear this:
Problems don't just go away. They get bigger and bigger inside of us. Until one day, you can't help but break then fix things. So fear not that you will be forever locked in endless winter with no way to create a better life for yourself. The time has only made you more passionate about your mission.
And so, that same change that knocked you off course last year will come back around and give you new opportunities soon.
Now is the time to act.
Don't wait for someone else to rescue you. God knows we all know each other's help. We do. But, people...YOU are the change you wish to see in the world.
If we all do something beautiful, something that positively impacts even one more person--our actions will have an exponential effect.
You've heard me speak of compassionate disruption. It is the truest phrase I can find to describe who we are and what we wish to accomplish.
Compassionate disruption means that we create change that betters humanity--not just ourselves.
Now is the time to stand up and do something.
Here are four inspirational steps to help you turn things around and get you back on track:
Think Clearly
Believe in Yourself
Gain New Skills
Make a Plan
Think Clearly
You know this: anxiety and ruminating solve nothing. You will need to learn how to remain on your mission and tune out the distractions all around you.
You've got to learn how to think more clearly and focus. Problem-solving is the number one skill to learn this year. For ideas on how to do this, check out the article How to Train Your Brain.
Believe in Yourself
Get clear on who you are and what you want to contribute, and let that be your driving force for each decision you make moving forward.
Use your mistakes and setbacks as learning opportunities. You've heard this before, but let me tell you--failures are good! Keep going!
Stop listening to what anyone else is saying. The renaissance is now, ya'll. Creating something new and beautiful is possible. Probable, even. So don't worry about someone else not seeing your vision. They'll get it soon enough.
Gain New Skills
Do you realize that the jobs our young children will have when they graduate have not been created yet? Likewise, that fuzzy dream of what you want to be when you grow up--even if you are now a senior citizen--will only come into focus a little later down the road. Your mission should be to gain new skills to ready yourself for what's about to happen.
Make a Plan
Now that you are clear on what you want--create something! Starting with an end-goal in mind, make the steps to get there. The easiest way to do this is with post-it notes on a window. You can re-arrange the pieces on your timeline as needed.
Once you've made your plan, put only 2-3 action items on each page of your daily calendar. To-do lists are crazy-making and not efficient because we don't know where to start when we see too many tasks. But if you will take the time to break down all the pieces and put them all in the calendar in this way, you will be super-efficient each day.
Goodness knows what we need right now is a little inspiration to get us going. I've created this guide with 100 tips and ideas with some of the best practices I've gathered over almost 20 years of life coaching. Enjoy!
I'm so excited to see what you create. I believe in you, and I know what you have to give is what the world needs right now. What are you working on? Let us know!👇
