10 Things You Didn't Know About Me

I sat down with myself (because, well, I'm not famous, and no one wants to interview me) to ask some questions to dive deeper behind the persona.

  1. Who do you want to be in your next life? A female version of Jimmy Page + Robert Plant. My most significant work would be a rock n roll infused rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu. My favorite version makes me cry to watch because the little soprano boy singing is ethereal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-mLTAFrlEA. Because of my suicide attempts and working with grieving family members, the thought that death means eternal rest resonates with me.

  2. How would you define who you are? I am, first and foremost, an artist who uses non-traditional mediums to connect people to heavenly thoughts and things.

  3. What would you say is the favorite thing you've created? I wrote once that I felt like a master when I was making my babies. What more beautiful piece of art could there be than conceiving, growing, and shaping a human being?

  4. Which archetype would you consider yourself? Earth mother. At home and in business, I am a nurturer and very down-to-earth. Five of my children were born at home. And I breastfed all of eight of my kids, including tandem nursing.

  5. Tell us about your daughters. What do you want for them? My three daughters are forces of nature, and absolutely nothing can stop them. They are wildflowers who are delicate and beautiful but have been able to thrive in the harshest of places.

  6. Tell us about your sons. My sons are very different from one another. They each teach me things every day. Whether it be how to invest in blockchain technology, how to take key-board shortcuts, or how to love purely but with strength. They are all world-changers in their own way and love their families intensely.

  7. What has been something you've struggled with that you'd rather not talk about? My relationship with alcohol. I rarely drink now, but I have used it in the past as a coping mechanism. It was a game-changer when I discovered Naltrexone. However, allowing myself to feel my emotions has been a process. As a woman growing up in the South, I was conditioned to believe that expressing emotions meant you were crazy.

  8. Tell us something we don't know about your marriage. My husband is kinder than me and has a better sense of fashion.

  9. Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I love people, and humanity as a whole, deeply. But my empathy and connection need a safe place to refuel. I'm the person who snuggles up on the couch alone or with my family after interfacing with the whole world.

  10. Why is your work important to you? My goal is to produce content that makes people think--changes their perspective. I want to present my work in a way that knocks you a little off-balance or touches a part of you that needs to be uncovered. Then I go in with the practical tools and skills needed to become stronger and believe in yourself.
